Still searching

I'm still looking for a place to live. By "place" I don't mean apartment, but rather the answer to the question I've asked for years: Where do I fit? For 27 years I was settled in Brooklyn Heights--a lovely and wonderful neighborhood--but often I felt the pull of other scenery, other ways to live. Staying still brings a comfort I'm not aware of until I try leaving. Then...well, all my wires go a little crazy.

Like now. Yesterday I scouted around Astoria, a few days before I tried finding Sunnyside but somehow walked past it, two weeks ago I was up in the very end of Washington Heights, the week before that Edgewater, before that, Riverdale. Oh, and of course, last week, Philadelphia! (so far, the best, except 181st overlooking the GW Bridge and the Hudson is very cool.)

Where I belong seems more "Where do I want to belong?" Manhattan is very belong-able and that's one of the best things about the borough. Always available, always here, doesn't snub me, even when I snub it.

Friday I'll have a walkabout in Nyack. It's sort of Brooklyn Heights and Washington Heights combined--cuteness with spectacular views of the Hudson.
